Children & Teens

Babies, young kids and teens – we have a lot of them at St. Peter's. Our children are encouraged to think, ask questions, serve and participate.

As our youth develop into young adults, we help them discover their own meaningful faith practice that can sustain and nurture them throughout life.

Jane and kids

We welcome children by:

  • Having a special time for children during morning worship.
  • Offering quality childcare from birth through age two in our infant nursery.
  • Providing a time for 4th-6th graders to discuss their faith with one of the pastors during the 11:00 a.m. service.
  • Holding Worship & Wonder (kdg-1st grade) and Worship & Exploration (2nd & 3rd grade) every Sunday

Even More For Children at St. Peter’s:

Education Hour (10:00 a.m. Sundays)  All preschool and elementary children begin with singing and signing, then meet for education hour. There are also grade-appropriate classes for middle and high school students.

Fellowship Times  4th, 5th, and 6th graders enjoy a once-a-month fellowship time hosted by the families of these children.

Confirmation and Youth Group  Middle and high school youth meet weekly during the school year.

Youth Retreats  Every year, St. Peter's youth (7th-12th grade) travel to the Teter Retreat House in Noblesville, IN for a weekend of fun and reflection. Here are just some of the comments from the kids after a recent retreat:

"I feel cracked open - like this acorn."

"Sometimes it's cold when other people leave. You can't warm yourself up if you're alone."

"You don't get to sit in nature too often in Carmel."

"Sometimes I can't even hear myself think at home."

"I saw this branch, and it reminded me of that verse... 'I am the vine; you are the branches.' I like that."

"Maybe I'm the wind. I don't stay in one spot very long, and I'm not calm."

"Sometimes I portray myself as if not a lot hurts me. But it does on the inside."

Camp and Mission Opportunities  Children of all ages can attend Camp Merom and participate in numerous mission experiences.

Peace Garden  Children are encouraged to work in our garden on the church grounds to grow food for various food banks.
